Ray Benson

February 29, 2004

Five skiers in two vehicles left SEHS at 8 a.m. We started our ski from the Ray Benson Sno Park at about 10 a.m. under a sunny sky, with clouds moving in from the west. With most of the trees in the area being burned by last summer’s fire, it was quite warm out in the sun. We skied east on the North Loop trail where the North Blowout shelter had been before the fires. We stopped for our first rest and looked over the burn. After the break we went south on the Two Buttes Cutoff trail. The snow conditions were quite good and as we skied along a light snow was now falling. We then turned on to the South Loop trail to our next rest stop at the Brandenburg shelter. Then we continued north on the South Loop trail back to the Sno Park.

The skiers were: members John Hudson, Phyllis O’Neill, Dave Predeek and non-member Craig Weinerman. The leader was George Baitinger.
