Salt Creek Falls

January 17, 2004

An enthusiastic group of fifteen snowshoers gathered at the SEHS parking lot greatly excited & encouraged by the sunshine ordered by Bob Huntley. Arriving at Salt Creek Falls we were glad to find that although the bridge across the Creek had some snow, it was not too much to cross — we were on our way. The easy four mile loop trail meandered gently through old growth &also into some open areas. We found a great lunch spot in a clearing bathed with sunshine. On the outward leg we stopped at overlooks with views of the falls — great photo spots. On the return trip to Eugene, we invaded McGillacuty’s (spelling?) in Oakridge for coffee, hot chocolate, tea & more conversation & stories. A great day with good company.

Snowshoers were Ann-Marie Askew, Anne Bonine, Danielle Delaby, Walt Dolliver, Jim & Sharon Duncan, Stewart & Kathy Hoeg, Yuan Hopkins, Bob Huntley, Beth & Ken Kodama, Jack O’Donnell, Shiela Ward, and Barb Bruns, leader.
