Under grey skies that held out the possibility of anything wet,
our group left SEHS.
Before reaching Oakridge the skies cleared and remained sunny and blue.
This North Waldo lake hike begins at the boat launch area and goes
through part of the 1996 Taylor forest fire.
hence this hike is not for those who see no beauty in such a landscape
(nor for those deterred by the Forest Service “Extreme Hazard”
due to potentially falling trees).
We hiked for a mile and a half close to Waldo Lake, then the loop around
Upper Rigdon Lake, Lower Rigdon Lake and finally Lake Kiwa —
all wonderously clear, to rejoin the Waldo Lake trail back to our cars.
