Clear Lake

August 14, 2004

There were thirteen hikers today, two of them non-members. We started counter clock-wise around Clear Lake stopping for lunch at the clear and very blue pool where the McKenzie River begins. It was a hot day, but not unbearable and the scenery was lovely. The lake was very still and we saw boaters and even two swans. The leaves on some of the maples were already turning red—a stark contrast to the black lava on the east side of the lake. I think we all enjoyed the trip.

Hikers were Joan Abel, Doris Brown, John Cole, Walt Dolliver, Kathy Lindstrom, Bonnie Manheim, Margaret Prentice, Ruth Romoser, Angela Ross, Nola Shurtleff, Marian West, Peter —? and Sharon Thomas, leader.
