Baker Beach

July 17, 2004

Seven of us left Eugene about 8:15 for the coast and much to our surprise had rain on the way over. Our positive attitude prevailed and we had a beach hike under sunny skies. This long stretch of beach north of Florence is shared with horse riders. At Sutton Creek we had lunch, then turned inland to walk between the creek and the snowy plover’s nesting area. We saw three heron flying over the creek. A day with no rain or wind—just blue sky and pleasant temperatures. We arrived at the parking lot before 1:30 with three of the group staying at the coast.

Hikers were Keith Christen, Nancy Coons, Kate Donnely, Ed Lichtenstein, Bonnie Manheim, Nola Nelson and Sandra Larsen, leader.
