Siltcoos Lake

July 14, 2004

Five hikers left Amazon Community Center at 0900 on a warm sunny day headed for the Oregon coast. Had a nice uneventful ride there and back and stopped at Alpha-bits for a snack and some browsing.

The hike was just challenging enough with its uphill and downhill portions—we hiked thru dense shrubbery—saw blackberries, many ferns and several very large old trees. Came to the lake in time for lunch—the sun was out but it was a little cooler than in Eugene—perfect hiking weather for two Obsidians and three non-members—including two who are working on hikes to qualify for membership. Hikers Zola Miller, her daughter Sierra, Joan Abel, Vicki Levine were gracious and accommodating, trip leader Gisele Garrity.
