McKenzie Waterfalls/Clear Lake
July 11, 2004
Five folk in two vehicles drove to the Sahalie Falls parking lot on
a clear but not to warm day.
The falls and rapids on the McKenzie stretch were dramatic as always.
We crossed the highway and picked up the Clear lake trail clockwise and
stopped for lunch at the Lodge.
Three of us then moved ahead leaving a slower twosome to follow—and
leaving them the map.
The leader misinterpreted a junction sign at the east end of the lake
(previous trips had gone counterclockwise) and got three of us lost for a
spell and a few more miles of hiking than anticipated.
Still, the weather was pleasant, the views fine, and the company good.
Enjoying the trip were obsidians
Mary Ann and Tom Holser,
Ed Lichtenstein (leader)
Doug Hintzman—who were good sports about the extra miles.
