Fern Ridge Bike Path
June 26, 2004
Eight of us gathered on a fine June day for an urban bike ride along the Amazon Canal. The day was partly cloudy with a light breeze and pleasantly warm temperatures. Perfect for a leisurely ride. The good company and gentle workout were complemented by several interesting bird sightings; including Green Heron (a nice close look), Great Blue Heron, Meadowlark and several others. If you really want to enjoy the flora and fauna it helps to bring along your field guide. In our case his name was Rick!
After a short rest at the trail’s terminus we retraced our route. It didn’t take much persuasion to convince the group to stop at the conveniently located Euphoria Chocolate Factory for an ice cream bar. (All Obsidian outings should include a little decadence.) So fortified, we continued on back to the cars.
Thanks to all for joining me on this most enjoyable morning ride! And special thanks to Rick for sharing his bountiful knowledge.
Riders were Rick Ahrens, Joan Bradley, Max Brown, Robert and Terri Mason, Bill and Margaret Prentice, and Doug Nelson, leader.
