Gwynn CreekMay 12, 2004A windless, overcast day greeted Jack Downs, Carolyn and Cork Higgins at the Oregon coast. We parked at Cummins Creek, hiked along the old Oregon Trail to Cape Perpetua Visitors Center where eagle-eyed Jack pointed out two gray whales traveling north just outside the surf. From there we hiked along Cook’s Ridge, impressed by the giant Sitka Spruce and old growth hemlock. After a mist-threatened short lunch we looped back to the car along the Gwynn Creek Trail. The return trip home was in bright sunshine, a great ending to a great day. |
