Finley Wildlife Refuge

April 4, 2004

It was a beautiful sunny and warm day. Birds were singing and flowers blooming. An affable group of 13 first stopped at McFadden Marsh. We then hiked the Mill Hill Trail and saw many flowers as well as wood ducks, hooded mergansers and a Red Spotted garter Snake. Due to a dry March, the trails were not very muddy. Altogether we saw 65 species of birds, including two Bald Eagles, an Osprey catching fish, and Cinnamon Teal. All in all a very pleasant trip.

Hikers were Joan Bradley, Max Brown, Walt Dolliver, Jim Duncan, Sharon Duncan, Yuan Hopkins, George Jobanek, Bill Prentice, Margaret Prentice, Ron Shaffer, Nola Shurtleff, Sheila Ward and leader Rick Ahrens.
