Deception Butte TrailJune 13, 2004Five very hardworking Obsidians worked their collective magic on the long neglected Deception Butte Trail near Oakridge. The weather cooperated with cool sun and blue skies. McLeods, Pulaskis and loppers were put to good use in cutting back brush, widening and upgrading this lovely and at the end challenging trail. Thimbleberries were in abundance and all but swallowed up sections of the trail. Another few weeks should provide some fine berry picking. The Forest Service had only recently completed logging out the trail and it was ready for a lively crew to continue dressing up the rough and overgrown sections of trail. Everyone had a good workout putting in five hours of digging an chopping and enjoyed a day of volunteering. Participants were: Max Brown, Wayne Deeter, Larry Dunlap, Joanne Ledet, and Peter Asai, leader. |
