Ray Benson CircumnavigationMarch 1, 2003This trip was originally to go to Robinson Lake Rd., but no snow on the first two miles prompted me to change the destination before I posted it. The pass had just gotten 2–4 inches of new snow the night before, so we weren’t skiing on icy conditions. We started on the North Loop trail, and took the Circle Lake cutoff to Island Shelter. There we basked in the sun and then took off across country (bush whacking) to the South Shelter. There were maybe 15 people at the South Shelter when we arrived, and several dogs. We didn’t stay long, and took the bottom of the South Loop around to the parking lot. Great day with lots of sun, and plenty of exercise. Participants were Dick Hildreth and leader Bill Johnson. Too bad more people were not aware that there is actually some snow at the pass. |
