Marilyn & Gold Lakes
January 11, 2003
We left for our snowshoe trip at 8:00 and arrived at 9:30.
This seems to be a good time to leave.
Most of the crowd gets to the pass at 10:30 or 11:30.
The snow was poor.
Our snowshoes were worn mostly for traction.
Some elected to carry their snowshoes on the return trip.
There is a lot of wood in the shelter, probably because not
many have visited this year.
There is a fallen tree on the road that will have to be cut
up by summer to allow cars into the campground.
The bathrooms at Gold Lake are left unlocked.
You might want to bring a flash light—it’s like
being in a cave when the door is shut.
All three lakes were frozen over.
Snowshoers were Gayle Berge, Max Brown, Bob Harrison,
Kathy and Stweart Hoeg, Valeri Jones and J. Scott Hovis, leader.
