Gold and Marilyn Lakes
January 4, 2003
Raining at the S. Eugene Parking lot as nine of us piled into two cars.
Rain on the drive to the Gold Lake parking lot.
Rain as we waited in the warming hut seeking weather information.
Rain as we walked over to the trail and mounted our skis.
And then the rain stopped!
The ski track was in pretty good shape and we glided down to the lake and had
lunch in the shelter.
And the rain started again but not hard and not really bothersome.
We first took a look at Gold lake and then returned via the Marilyn lakes
stopping to admire both of them.
The track remained serviceable [two of the party opted to backtrack on the road]
and the woods and lakes were lovely in the mist and rain.
All agreed that it was great exercise and much better than sitting
in the rain back in Eugene.
Enjoying the day were nonmmebers Bob Kappa and Lori Funkhouser
and members Bob Huntley, Jim Duncan, Norma Lockyear,
Royal Murdock, Helen Liguori, Chris Stockdale,
and Ed Lichtenstein [leader].
