Tahkenitch Dunes Loop
October 11, 2003
It is interesting to see the changes to a landscape over different
seasons during a number of years.
This is why I so enjoy my hikes on this trail.
On the sign-up sheet I describe this hike as “a bit of everything”:
through the woods, down sand dunes, along the beach, up through more dunes
and then up through second growth woods back to trailhead.
Despite some rain eight hikers joined in.
We saw wildlife; sea lions frolicking in the surf, gulls and shore birds
while at the beach, newts hiking the trail with us and unfortunately,
only bear-paws prints near Threemile Lake.
Hikers from Eugene included members
non-members from Florence,
met us at the trailhead.
