Five robust adventurers left Eugene in the mist only to
arrive at Gold Lake Road in picture-perfect weather.
The hike to the top of Maiden Peak is a beautiful but steady
climb through the Willamette Forest.
Three hours after starting we had the entire peak (and the
entire mountain) to ourselves.
Blue sky, 75 or 80 degrees, no wind—we could have
stayed there all day.
The hike down was uneventful except for a misguided yellow
jacket who launched a terrorist attack on one wrist and
Doug McCarty, leader.
