Linton Lake

August 20, 2003

This short, easy hike turned out to be quite a challenge as we ducked under, over and around numerous downed trees.

The first two miles in were clear and beautiful, as always, through old growth fir and hemlock and a lush understory beginning to show fall colors: however, after passing the campsite near the lake, the blowdown begins and the trail is almost obliterated. Apparently, the Forest Service is no longer maintaining the trail beyond this point. In spite of a rough go, our group persevered to Linton Creek and a view of the water crashing down the mountain side. No takers for a hike up to see the falls so after a leisurely lunch at the lake, we headed out. Two great hikers — our seven year olds! Hikers were: Allan Coons, Charlotte Coons, Juliana Coons, Walt Dolliver, Victoria Emmons, Shirley Froyd, Kathy Lindstrom, Jan Moore, and leader, Leona Devine.
