Mt. Pisgah

June 21, 2003

Dick Hildreth, Colleen Milliman, Judy Newman and leader Janet Hall hiked up the main trail to the top of Mt. Pisgah, took a quick look at the view and refreshed ourselves with water before beginning the descent around the north, then to the east side of the mountain. The trail provided glorious views of the valley through the trees before opening up in the meadow prior to the east parking lot. The group decided to hug the river as we headed west. Coming upon an outcrop of rock, we paused for lunch and to rest some sore feet. While we ate a black cloud threatened but took pity, sparing us an untimely shower. As we approached the river we hiked through a canopy of trees and were rewarded by a host of birds celebrating this magnificent day filled with good company, lively chatter and the glories of nature.
