Mild weather followed us to the coastal trail network at
We walked about five miles in all.
The terrain varied from lush fern and rhody-lined paths to open,
sandy trails that were frequently invisible.
We stretched out for lunch on the beach before heading back to the cars.
Much of the area adjacent to the beach is off-limits these days to protect
the snowy plover.
Everyone seemed in good spirits even though we got sidetracked
(i.e., lost!) when our last steep, sandy climb took us back to
So, we walked the last mile on paved “urban trail” (Hwy. 101)!
on this coastal hike.
