Ridgeline Trail - Blanton Hts.

May 20, 2003

We met at Amazon Community Center at 9 a.m. and took the #73 bus from there to Willamette Street & 38th Ave. We walked up 38th, turned right on Dellwood and followed it to a stairway on the left which took us into a cul de sac. Coming out of that, we turned right on Monroe Street and followed that to another section of 38th. Turning left, we walked up to Blanton Road where we turned left again, and in a few minutes, arrived at the west end of the Ridgeline Trail. We followed the trail back to Willamette Street, walked downhill to 46th Ave. and took a returning #73 bus back to Amazon Park, arriving at noon.

We had very good weather and the mud spots on the trail were dry enough to walk on. We had to look out for poison oak, but also saw lots of candy flower, a small clump of coral root orchids, and fringe cup. We found Washington Lily plants in bud, but not yet in bloom. We passed swallows, wrens, nuthatches and a small lizard. Hikers were Bonnie Ledford (former member, but not currently a dues-paying member), Sandra Larsen, and Leader, Nola Shurtleff.
