Alsea & Green Peak FallsMay 17, 2003Easy spring hike along the Alsea River with an elevation gain of approximately 400 ft. Margaret Wiese counted 32 varieties of blooming wildflowers. Temperatures fluctuated some with dramatic weather shifting from black clouds plus rain, to bright sunlight and then a hail storm. Alsea Falls is accessible from a campground but we hiked to it via a trail constructed by an Eagle Scout. In the same area is Green Peak Falls which is the more spectacular of the two falls. Hikers were Catherine Jones, Iwo Lojasiewicz, Mavis Mate, Nola Nelson, Lucille Peterson, Barbara Sutherland, Margaret Wiese and Sylvia Harvey, leader. |
