McKenzie River Trail to Carmen Reservoir

May 10, 2003

The team of 6, Sandy Reul, Leader, non-members Chisako Sakai, Abe Mooney and members Chuck Reul, Patty MacAfee and Lucy Rayle left the parking lot on Highway 126 about 9:30 on a partly sunny Saturday on May 10.

We enjoyed pleasant conversation, new wildflowers, and views of river rafters until we reached Carmen Reservoir, where we lazed in the sun and ate our lunches, along with Ghirardelli chocolates provided by the leader. In the afternoon Lucy was suffering from a muscle spasm, and since it did not improve much on the return trip, Patty generously volunteered to stay with Lucy at the afternoon break spot.

The rest of the group arrived back at the parking lot at 4:30; we picked up Lucy and Patty at the break spot at 4:45, and everyone was safely home in Eugene by 6:00 p.m. Thanks to Drivers Chuck Reul and Abe Mooney.
