Finley Wildlife RefugeApril 6, 2003After a windy, showery night, the weather for our trip was mostly sunny and pleasant! We stopped first at McFadden Marsh where there is a nice new bird hide. There were still a few gaggles of Dusky Canada Geese hanging about around with thousands of cacklers. Next we took a leisurely stroll on the very muddy Mill Pond trail, looking at wild flowers and birds. Then on to the Woodpecker Loop. Throughout the refuge there are many new informational signs. Other good birds seen: Cinnamon teal, Wood ducks and Hooded merganser. The very amicable group consisted of Max Brown, Deb & Glenn Hoernig, Anne Hollander, Marriner Orum, Terri Mason and leader Rick Ahrens. |
