Almost in town we have a walk through old growth Firs and up and out on a rocky summit that provides the single best view of Eugene and the distant Cascades. And even just after three days of rain, the Fox Hollow trailhead had limited mud that was easily passable. A brief shower on top. The Trilliums were in full bloom, scattered Lambs Tongue, and a patch of Calypso orchids that we missed seeing again on the way down; perhaps distracted the sights and sounds of a Pileated woodpecker. Max Brown, Jan Jacobsen, and leader Royal Murdock climbed Spencers Butte.
