OMSI (Lewis & Clark film), Portland

On a wet and gloomy morning, 32 Obsidians and 11 nonmembers went to OMSI in Portland. Featured was the Omnimax Lewis & Clark film, which all attended; then a split group with 14 touring the USS Blueback, a 1959 vintage diesel submarine, and the rest of us seeing the film “Bears”. In addition we enjoyed the variety of exhibits and hands-on displays plus lunch at their cafe with a nice view of the downtown skyline. A very enjoyable experience for all. The overflow crowd—an Obsidian Bus Record—required using the largest Oregon Coachway bus, ably driven by Kurt Hand. Riders were: Ethel Allen, Don & Ewart Baldwin, Mike Barkhuff, Dick & Mary Bentsen, Gayle Berge, Marian & John Borchardt, Mary Bridgeman, Nicole Chase, Mary Lee Cheadle, Kent Christofferson, Rosemary Etter, Ruth & Ryan Eveland, Bea Fontana, Bev Halter, Dora Harris, Doris Helikson, Evelyn Hile, Mary Ann Holzer, Phyllis Hulse, Pat Ibach, Jan & John Jacobsen, Pat & Ben Jeffries, Jean Jensen, Rosella Jones, Marcia Jordan, Verna Kocken, Dorothy Leland, Mary Lemons, John & Lenore McManigal, Patrick & Susan O’Neill, Ella & Willard Peterson, Bobbye Sorrels, Janet Speelman, Ed & Kitty Stout, Gene Thaxton, Sheila Ward, Vera Woolley and trip leaders Liz Reanier and Ray Jensen.
