Fern Ridge Path
December 11, 2002
At 9:25 a.m., fourteen of us took LTD bus #43 from City View and West 11th to
Danebo and Roosevelt where we walked to the entrance of the new section of
the Fern Ridge Path.
I was told that the path would be officially open November 30th.
Even though they are still working on the path, we were able to hike out to the
lookout on Greenhill Road.
We then walked back to Terry Street to hook up with the older part of the bike trail.
The new path offers views of wetlands and lots of birds.
We saw one egret, mallards, and Canada geese.
A few hikers took advantage of our stop at Euphoria Chocolate.
By 12:20, we were back at our cars at City View.
A few people continued on the path to the Fairgrounds for a longer hike.
It was fun for some of the hikers to ride the bus for the first time and for
everyone to see a new part of town.
I want to thank Diane Bishop (City of Eugene) who provided me with the
information about the path and bus routes.
The folks at LTD were also very helpful.
Hikers were John Agnew, Anne Marie Askew, Dan Christensen, Jim and Sharon Duncan,
Marshall Kandell, Charles Lake, Joe Neal, Sig Otto, Rich Romm, Ruth Romoser,
Bill Simington, Sheila Ward, and Janet Jacobsen, leader.
