Maiden PeakFebruary 16, 2002Only two made the trek to the top of Maiden Peak on a day with sunshine that broke trough just in time for glorious summit views. Maybe it was the early start time, 7:00 A.M., or the 12 miles and 2,700 feet of elevation gain that kept the trip roster so short. Whatever the reasons, Maiden Peak remains one of the best ski destinations and this day was no exception. The snow was deep, but not too hard for two to trail break to the summit, and the run from the top down to Rosary Lakes is the reason skis exist. Touring and turning on this great day of skiing were John Hegg and Harold Thompson, leader. |
