Willamette Pass Ski DayJanuary 30, 2002Seven skiers — five for downhill; two [the Duncans] for x-country — drove in two vehicles to the Willamette Pass ski area. Jim and Sharon explored the groomed x-country trails maintained by the ski area. The rest of us went up the lifts where we mainly skied the intermediate trails. There was excellent packed/groomed snow of recent vintage and the partly overcast skies permitted some views of the nearby lakes and Diamond Peak. Enjoying the day was nonmember Laurie Reed, and members Marriner Orum, Dan Bates, Peggy Lee Mathes, Sharon and Jim Duncan, and leader Ed Lichtenstein. This was the third mid-week Willamette Pass outing sponsored by the Club this year and the participation suggests considerable interest in downhill skiing. |
