Duffy & Mowich Lakes

October 15, 2002

For the second week in a row I visited a lake in the Jefferson Wilderness I had never been to before. We had a beautiful clear sky, great fall color, a few peaks of Three Fingered Jack along the trail and no other hikers. Duffy Lake is the first lake you come to, after a gradual three mile hike from the trailhead. We lunched at Mowich Lake a mile further on and about 500 ft. higher in elevation. Greeted by a stiff cool breeze, we edged on to a sunny bank before returning to the cars. Hikers were Ann-Marie Askew, Don Doerr, Joe Neal, Ruth Romoser, Bill Simington, Gloria Youngbauer, and Jane Hackett, leader.
