Matthieu Lakes

September 7, 2002

After weather report of possible rain, woke up to sunny skies. Ten met at SEHS and we were on our way. Stopped at Ranger station and had a close call with dog running in front of one of the cars on Hwy 242. Didn’t see a soul and don’t think dog was aware we were there but could have ruined our day.

Had pretty mountain views except for cloud cover on top of a couple. After eating lunch at South Matthieu Lake, Curtis hiked around the lake while the rest enjoyed the sun and view of North Sister. Michelle found and captured a horn toad, of course, let it go free. Stopped at Dee Observatory on way back. Thanks to Daniele Delaby and Joanne Gulsvig for driving. Non-members were: Joanne Gulsvig, Cherri Montogomery and Dorothy Quirk. Members: Daniele Delaby, Yuan Hopkins, Curtis Irish, Carol Petty, Barbara Sutherland and Michelle Tambellini. Leader: Barbara Schomaker
