Little Brother

August 30, 2002

This was the forth annual late summer Little Brother trip. And we had a great sunny day for it. A total of five of us went on this hike — three of us had been before, and the other two were first timers. Peggy Mathes had a very different experience from the last time she went (two years ago) when visibility was severely limited. We all made good time up Obsidian Trail, across the lava, along the Glacier Way Trial, to Sunshine, and then on climbers trails & cross-country to the summit. We lounged in the sunshine for a generous length of time at the top, and then went back the way we had come. We stopped at Sunshine to soak our feet in the refreshingly icy waters of Glacier Creek. At the end of the hike we learned vie Danny’s pedometer that this is a 12 mile hike (not 15). Either way, it’s quite a workout. Until next year … Hikers were Danny Baihuber, Dick Hildreth, Peggy Mathes, Jim Fritz and Doug Quirk, leader.
