Benson & Tenas Lakes
August 3, 2002
Six of us left Albertson’s parking lot on Main St. in Springfield
in two cars and arrived at the trailhead just before 10:30 a.m.
We hiked a leisurely, gentle uphill climb to Benson Lake where we scrambled
up to high rocks for a view of the beautiful, blue Benson Lake.
We visited and had snacks.
The view of the Three Sisters was very hazy due to smoke from forest fires.
Continuing on to Tenas Lakes we met some folks we knew who passed on to us some
“extra” food as one of our group left her sandwiches in the car.
After exploring the lovely group of several Tenas Lakes we had lunch & one
of us cooled off with a swim while the rest cooled their feet in the lake.
The mosquitoes were not forgiving but otherwise we had a lovely day.
I recommend this hike for September in the future due to the mosquitoes.
Hikers were Marlene Herinckx, Jessyca Lewis, john Moser, Joy Moser,
Joyce Smith, and Sharon Thomas (leader).
