Hobbit Trail & Other Coast Areas
August 1, 2002
The Hobbit Trail hike is offered several times a year.
I think changing it to make it an outing with a lot of variety works well.
It was suggested I add more hiking time to improve it.
We did the following walks: Sutton Creek area, Hobbit Trail,
Cape Perpetua — Cook’s Chasm, & Ona Beach State Park
where we saw an eagle.
We visited two art galleries, the Rock Shelter on Mt. Perpetua,
Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center & the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse.
The trail conditions were ideal and the weather was cool and windy at times.
I think some people appreciate a hike offered during the week &
when many are gone at summer camp.
Hikers were Ann-Marie Askew, Max Brown, Marshall Kandell, Akira Ozaki, Sheila Ward,
and J. Scott Hovis (leader).
