June 30, 2002
The day was overcast, which made for pleasant hiking.
The hearty group of 7 hikers set off on the gravel road to Jawbone Flats,
since the lower bridge was still out, making it impossible to do the loop trip.
We continued up the road a little farther than we needed to, having missed the trail to Opal Pool,
but we did get there.
We had lunch beside the cascading torrents of Opal Creek before heading back.
Finally, we all stopped at the Swiss Village café in Mazama to round out the day.
Hikers were Wendy Clarke, Dorothy Dunn, Carol Ipsen, Joe Neal, Lucille Peterson, Carol Petty
and leader Marian West.
