Silver Creek Falls
June 29, 2002
It was slightly drizzling when we met at the SEHS parking lot.
The sky threatened rain!
A little rain doesn’t stop any Obsidian hikers!
As we headed north towards Salem the sky became very promising and it looked like we were in for
a very nice day.
When we arrived at Silver Falls State Park, the sun was shining.
This was the first time at Silver Falls for several hikers.
As we made the falls loop (there are 10 in all), some people brought out their cameras and
Five of the falls are 100' or more!
There was an abundance of water flowing in the creek and it made the falls very impressive!
Everyone enjoyed the spectacular falls, gorgeous green foliage and many colorful flowers.
There has been a lot of improvement along the trail and work maintenance.
Part of trail (to North Falls) was barricaded off due to tree/rock slides.
We hiked to the North Falls on another access trail.
After our hike we enjoyed ice cream and goodies at the Lodge.
The 12 hikers that went were: Max Brown, Daniele Deleby, Jim Duncan, Sharon Duncan, Yuan Hopkins,
Patty MacAfee, Helen Martz, Barb Schomaker, Barb Sutherland, Sheila Ward, Mel Zavodsky,
and Michelle Tambellini (leader).
