Rebel Rock Loop
June 22, 2002
A beautiful, cool day, seemed to assure a flawless hike.
However, seven miles into the odyssey I missed the start of the cross country section.
Said I, Oh well, I’m with two very strong hikers and I’ve always wanted
to follow the trail all the way to the ridge crest.
Then, easy, follow the entire ridge top (instead of just part of it)
to the rebel rock base.
It added over an hour and about two miles of brush and rock hell!
Finally a late lunch at Rebel Rock.
From here on m/l normal hike.
Continue to the top of Rebel Mountain, then down to a great viewpoint,
and a brush crash back to the loop trail.
A stop at the lookout gets more depressing every year as disintegration continues.
Finally, we ease the quad developing 4 downhill miles to the cars.
The great sports along for this rough trek were:
Fred Felter, Morgan Koudelka, and Ed Lovegren, leader.
