Dog MountainJune 8, 2002We met at the trailhead at 9 AM (about 50 miles east of Portland on Washington State Rt. 2) — started hiking at 9:30. It was cool and threatening rain. However the rain held off until the very end of the hike. We reached the summit about noon — quite cold and windy — wind chill probably about 38°. It was overcast above, but we had clear beautiful views of the Columbia and of the abundant wildflowers. Andrew Blumm, age 6, made this trip for the 2nd year in a row. This was Becky Lipton’s qualifying hike for membership. Hikers were Andrew Blumm, Jim & Sharon Duncan, Bob Huntley, Michael Landes, Becky Lipton, Ben Macauley, Chris Schaefer, Bob Shaw, Lisa Werthen, and Buzz Blumm (leader). |
