Mt. June

May 26, 2002

What a perfect day! One of the few times I’ve been on Mt. June and had views in every direction. We all agreed that the trail mileage seems much further than that listed on the maps, maybe it’s the straight-up elevation gain. In any event, the day was gorgeous, the flowers are just starting to come out (late this year). We saw a big meadow of avalanche lilies near the top with Calypso Orchids, Penstemon and Trillium all along the trail. We could see Mt. Jefferson to the north, the Sisters to the east and Mt. Bailey and Thielsen to the south.

A really fine group of people joined me on this excursion. They were members: John Agnew, George Baitinger, Dan Bates, Bob Burnett, Sylvia Harvey, Stewart Hoeg, Bob Huntley, Sandra Larsen, Anne McLucas and Leila Snow. Non-Members were Chris Christensen and Phyllis Fisher. Many thanks go to Dan and George for driving and to Anne for being sweep. — Sharon Ritchie, Leader (sorta)
