Cottage Grove/Dorena Reservoir
March 16, 2002
Eleven people signed up for the Row River Trail hike and nine showed up.
We left the SEHS parking lot a little after 9:00 a.m. in blustery weather and started on the
trail before 10:00 at a brisk pace that could easily be sustained, the trail being paved with
almost no elevation gain.
Since time flies when you are in good company, we ended up walking a little over ten miles instead
of the scheduled eight miles.
The weather was not as bad as we had feared upon leaving Eugene.
We encountered a few showers of rain mixed with snow but we also enjoyed a few sun breaks.
The reservoir is still very low but we spotted bald eagles and blue herons.
The wet picnic tables did not seem very appealing to us and we all decided to have a hot lunch
in Cottage Grove on the way back to Eugene.
Participants were Max Brown, Jim & Sharon Duncan, Yuan Hopkins, Sig Otto, Barbara Schomaker,
Barbara Sutherland, Michelle Tambellini and leader Daniele Delaby.
