Fawn LakeFebruary 25, 2001Fawn Lake - Not!! I was so excited to be taking three skiers to Fawn Lake who had never skied there before. We left Eugene at 8:30 and began skiing at 10:30. While following the blue markers, we enjoyed warm, sunny weather. We crossed the road, lost the trail and did some great loops in six inches of new snow. Although we never got to Fawn Lake, we did enjoy lunch at Crescent Lake, 3 I/2 hours of great skiing as well as trail breaking. We explored, enjoyed and muddled our way through a beautiful day. Once back at the SnoPark we retraced our tracks and discovered the blue trail diamonds had been replaced with orange tape. Now we know what the orange tape on trees is for! I promised my group that I’d take them to Fawn Lake in two weeks if the snow is still around. We figured we’d skied about seven miles in loops. No one wanted to write up an incident report on the leader … I should have known better because I’ve been to Fawn Lake six or seven times before! Oh well, it was a great day anyway and two of the non-members want to join the Club. Go figure! Participants were Christine Paige, Bob Huntley, Craig Weinemman and Diane Jeffcott, leader. |
