Spencer Butte/Ridgeline Trail
October 27, 2001
On the drive to the trailhead at the end of Spring Blvd., we spotted two
deer. We were on top by 12:00 for a pleasant lunch, where a beautiful squirrel
darted in and out of the rocks. While eating lunch we shared our places of
birth. The midwest was the winner. It was raining by the time we started hiking
the Fox Hollow/Dillard section. We voted to take a short cut around Baldy to
make a quick trip to our cars. There have been improvements to the trail since I
led it last spring. Except for the Baldy section, we are so fortunate to have a
well-maintained trail that we can use year 'round. We welcomed three
non-members: Patty Long from Coos Bay, Barbara Leinweber from Corvallis
(recently moved from Arizona), and Deborah Larson (recently moved from Texas).
Bob Burnett drove down from Corvallis, and other hikers were Yuan Hopkins,
Barbara Schomaker and Janet Jacobsen, leader.
