Clear Lake

October 25, 2001

Five of us squeezed into the leader’s car for a gorgeous autumn hike on the McKenzie River Trail. We left Eugene under overcast skies, and stopped at the McKenzie Ranger Station to check about a bridge being closed to see if it would affect our hike. It wouldn’t, but we did a survey with one of the rangers regarding our destination, etc. After parking at the Sahalie Falls parking lot we got on the trail. Everyone agreed how fortunate we are to live so close to such beauty. The sun came out so we did have blue skies. By the time we got most of the way around Clear Lake the Three Sisters were still obscured by fog. We did get a view of Mt. Washington, with a dusting of snow. The happy weed-day hikers were Jan Jacobsen, Margaret Prentice, Clare Tucker, Sheila Ward and leader Sandra Larsen.
