Row River Bike Trail
October 20, 2001
Gayle and Bob led the group from Eugene to the six-mile mark on Row River
Road, where we gathered to begin the ride. It was quite cool and cloudy but the
six of us were eager to go - especially to burn calories to warm up. The lake
had been drawn down quite far. A heron was looking for prey at the edge.
Wildwood Falls was still falling but there was not much flow. The colors of the
shrubs and trees gave us a delightful ride. Lunch at Rujada Camp ground tasted
good. At one place along our route a donkey and his dog friend came to the fence
to say "Hi!"; the dog didn't even bark. We also saw a flock of
Sandhill Cranes flying south over Dorena Lake. We saw a spot of blue sky, had no
rain and a good time was had by all. On this trip of 33 miles were Gayle Berge,
Max Brown, Wayne Deeter, Bob Devine, Mary Goldsmith and leader Shirley Froyd.
