Belknap Crater

August 11, 2001

We left the SEHS parking lot at 7:00 a.m. but it was still warm when we stepped our of the car at the trailhead at 9:00. It was at least a two-quart water day. Everyone enjoyed the breeze at the top of Belknap. The trip down the scree slope was a hoot with five-year-old Andrew and John in the lead. This hike is most rewarding with its views of the Cascade peaks, the hike through the lava beds and then walking through the lava tubes. This was Andrew's third trip. We signed the membership application for him to become a Junior Obsidian. We stopped at Finn Rock for ice cream on the way home. Hikers were Pat Adams, Buzz & Andrew Blumm, Jane Hackett, Marilyn Kerins, Sue Sullivan, Iva Stavron and Jan & John (trip leader) Jacobsen.
