Scott MountainJuly 15, 2001After two cancellations, Sharon and I added the Scott Lake hike. With few breaks, twelve hikers battled mosquitoes all the way past Benson Lake to the top. White clouds covered the summits of the Sisters and Mt. Washington. The temperature was perfect with a few breezes to whisk away some of the mosquitoes. After lunch we continued the loop trail down Scott Mt. past the lava fields, Hand Lake and Scott Lake. We had two U. of O. graduate math students on our trip and discovered that at least seven of the hikers knew how to use a slide rule. It was a great trip with lots of conversation and laughs by Elliot Aronin, Jane Bartell, Wayne Deeter, Peter Dolan, John Jacobsen, Ellen Leinbach, Bill & Margaret Prentice, Iva Stavron, Jim Whitfield and Janet Jacobsen & Sharon Ritchie (co-leaders). |
