Scio/Crabtree Valley

It was a cool, cloudy morning to begin this trip in Scio. Bicycles were unloaded, checked and fitted for the ride. Wayne Deeter was very helpful with his skills and tools. We headed out at 10 a.m. and up the hill to Ridge Road where we found rolling hills, neat farms and great views. This followed with a two-mile downhill ride that took us along Thomas Creek to mile 12 and the Hannah Covered Bridge. Another four miles and we were at barn rid Shimaneek Bridge. Lunch was at Larwood Covered Bridge Wayside Park at mile 25. Continuing in clearing skies and sunshine we passed through Hoffman Covered Bridge and after turning north near Crabtree we crossed Gilkey Covered Bridge. We returned to Scio at 4 p.m. after completing 46 miles. We shared good company and pleasant ride on quiet country roads. The group consisted of Rose Marie & Dick Moffitt, Gale Berge, Kitson & Peter Graham, Lori Brown, Wayne Deeter, Karen Prater, Joyce Sanders, Judy & Will Spearin and trip leader Norma Lockyear.
