Olallie MountainJune 16, 2001Four days before, when Jan Jacobsen and I checked this trail, it snowed big, fat flakes all the way to the top and most of the way back down. On this day, the sky was blue, the sun was shining. The trail was in excellent conditions. Unfortunately, the beargrass flowers had been harvested and it was a little too early for the usual display of wildflowers, but the view at the top was perfect - all the way from Mt. Hood to Thielsen. It was everyone's first time on Olallie, and all were very impressed. After lunch many pictures were taken, and then we returned to the cars, with a stop in vida for ice cream. My thanks to Joanne for helping get the eight non-members of this group up and down the trail. Hikers were Gerardo Bermudez, Wayne Deeter, Jim Fritz, Diana Grimes, Rebecca Roebig, Wojtek & Adam Szalecki, Sharon Thomas, Joanne Ledet and ?leader? Sharon Ritchie. |
