Eula RidgeJune 3, 2001The weather was threatening and the prediction was showers as our group made its way to the summit of Hardesty Mountain. The route was steep and challenging and we were aided by recent trail maintenance. The plan was to be rewarded with lunch at the old fire lookout remains on top. However, bitter cold and snow greeted us as we reached the 4,200 ft. summit. Not quite what we expected on June 3! We beat a quick retreat to a sheltered area below, warmed up with multiple layers of clothing, then gathered again at the Pleasant Hill Dairy Queen for the end of our adventure. Participants were Joe & Barb Chambers, Polly Field, Beth Karolte, Sue Glover, Bud Proctor and Richard Romm, leader. |
