Hobbit Trail/Heceta HeadMay 13, 2001The four mothers and/or daughters participating in our Mother's Day hike were rewarded with as nearly perfect a day for a coast hike as could be imagined - blue sky, a light breeze, and glorious sunshine, enabling us to ride at least part of the way with the leader's convertible roof down. We drove to the Washburne Park day area to park, hiked on the beach to the Hobbit Trail and then turned before the highway to take the Heceta Lighthouse Trail. We ate lunch near the lighthouse, looking out over the water, then returned to the Hobbit Trail, crossed the highway and took the Meadow Trail to Washburne Park and back to the car for a loop of about six miles. The very compatible group of women were Mary Jo Workman, Joanne Ledet, Barbara Sutherland and leader Anne McLucas. |
