Tahkenitch Dunes/Threemile LakeMay 12, 2001Seven of us met at 8:30 a.m. and headed to the coast to see what we could find on the Tahkenitch Dunes/Threemile Lake Trail. It was mostly cloudy there, but the wind was light, making pleasant hiking condition. At the beach we went north to Tahkenitch Creek. Its exit to the ocean has moved 200 yards north since last fall. After going back down to the beach, treasure hunting all the way, we had lunch and a nap (well, almost!) at Threemile Lake. The trail back to the trailhead is through an enchanting forest, and was marked by wild flowers, centipedes and little green frogs. Enjoying this hike were Paul Jasheway, Sheila Ward, Ed Lichtenstein, Marilyn Kerins, Jane Engert, Jerry Brindle, and leader Bob Huntley. |
